הברו נשאי כלי ה'. הענין הוא, כל המצות עשה נקראים כלי ה', וע"ז מזהיר הנביא את האדם הברו נושאי כלי ה', היינו אתה האדם כשאתה עושה המצות עשה, תראה לברר אותך מכל הלאוין, כגון שאתה נוטל אתרוג בידך לקיים המצוה יהיו ידיך נקיים ומבוררים מכל החטאים הנמצא במעשה ידיך ואז תקיים המצות בשלימות.
“… be pure of heart, you who carry the vessels of God.” (Yeshayahu, 52:11) All the positive mitzvot are called “the vessels of God.” Therefore the prophet is warning man, “be pure of heart, you who carry the vessels of God,” meaning you yourself, when you perform the positive mitzvot, see to it that you refine yourself from all the negative mitzvot.16The Hebrew word for “be pure of heart”—hibaru, is closely related to the Hebrew word for “refinement”—birrur. For example, when your hands take hold of the etrog (citron) to fulfill the positive commandment during the Succot festival, be sure that your hands are clean of any sins that could be done with the hands. In this way you will be performing the mitzvot in a state of completeness.
