1וַאֲשֶׁר כֹּחַ בָּהֶם לַעֲמֹד בְּהֵיכַל הַמֶּלֶךְ (דָּנִיֵּאל א) כִּי יֵשׁ לְמַעְלָה הֵיכַל הַמֶּלֶךְ.Those who approach God are called, “Those who have the power to stand in the King’s palace” (Daniel 1:4). There is a King’s palace on high.2וּלְמַטָּה הֵיכַל הַמֶּלֶךְ הוּא: הַדִּבּוּר.Here, below, the King’s palace is speech.3כִּי "הֵיכַל דָּא אֲדֹנָי" – "אֲדֹנָי שְׂפָתַי תִּפְתָּח" (תְּהִלִּים נא).Palace is Adonoy (see note 279, p. XX). It is written, “Lord (Adonoy), open my lips” (Psalms 51:17). God’s name Adonoy refers to speech.4וְצָרִיךְ שֶׁיִּהְיֶה לוֹ כֹּחַ לַעֲמֹד בְּהֵיכַל הַמֶּלֶךְ, בְּכֹחַ הַצַּדִּיק וְכוּ' (הַיְנוּ כְּשֶׁהַצַּדִּיק חוֹלֵק עָלָיו וּמְדַבֵּר עָלָיו יִהְיֶה לוֹ כֹּחַ לַעֲמֹד).You must have “the power to stand in the King’s palace.” This power is that of the tzaddik. You must have the power to stand when a tzaddik opposes you and speaks against you (see “His Wisdom” #96).
