He quoted the verse, “God’s eyes are to tzaddikim” (Psalms 34:16). Tzaddikim can gaze with God’s eyes and see all of a man’s past. In many cases, the Rebbe revealed people’s pasts to them, telling them everything they had done (see “His Wisdom” #184).
אָמַר: שֶׁיּוֹדֵעַ כָּל מַה שֶּׁחָטָא הָאָדָם.
The Rebbe said that he can look at a man and know all his sins.
וְאָמַר (תְּהִלִּים לד): "עֵינֵי ה' אֶל צַדִּיקִים", הַיְנוּ שֶׁהַצַּדִּיקִים יֵשׁ לָהֶם עֵינֵי ה'. וְזֶהוּ "עֵינֵי ה' אֶל צַדִּיקִים", שֶׁעֵינֵי ה' הֵם אֵצֶל הַצַּדִּיקִים, וְעַל כֵּן בְּוַדַּאי הֵם יְכוֹלִים לְהִסְתַּכֵּל בְּעֵינֵי ה' וְלָדַעַת כָּל מַה שֶּׁעָבַר הָאָדָם. וּלְכַמָּה בְּנֵי אָדָם גִּלָּה וְאָמַר לָהֶם כָּל מַה שֶּׁעָבְרוּ.
