SOUL SENSATION: The human inner impulse of its psychic field loves to be excited, and not only if it is a pleasant sensation but for the very experience of stimulation, even sadness or some melancholia! A person will watch unbearable scenes and listen to insufferable stories just to be stimulated, for such is human nature and such is the need of the inner impulse of its psychic field, no different [in this] than its other natures and needs. But only those deploying the self-discipline necessary to realize this need will then channel it into passionate prayer and Torah learning.
