And if the teller is known by all to fear no man, and that everything that he would say not in the presence of his friend he would say to his face and fear no one, and he is also held among his people to be a man who speaks only the truth, it is permitted for him to tell men of the wrong he [the accused] did to his friend, even not in the presence of three. For the hearers will not suspect a man like this of being a flatterer or a liar, but that his intent is only to be zealous for the truth and to help the one who was wronged and to condemn the evil deeds before all. But in this and in all that we wrote in section 8, great care must be taken that there not be lacking any of the details that we mentioned in the beginning of the section, for we have omitted from them only the detail of "before three."
