And even if he sees that by his not revealing it, he will suffer great loss in his affairs, being under the authority of others, who, when they understand [part of] the thing, will rise up against him [to compel him] to reveal [all], and he is afraid of being suspected of collusion with Ploni and being dismissed from his position and not being able to provide a livelihood for his family — still, it is forbidden [to speak rechiluth] as in the case of all the other negative commandments, where he must give up all that he has rather than transgress them (viz. Yoreh Deah 157:1), unless in an instance where revelation might remove damages or put an end to the quarrel. But one must not be too hasty to rely upon this heter, for it entails many qualifications, as we shall explain below at length, the L–rd willing, in Principle IX.
