אל יתן שלום לרבו כדרך שנותנין חברים זה לזה ולא יחזיר שלום כדרך שמחזירין שלום אלא שוחה לפניו ביראה וכבוד ואומר שלום עליך רבי ומורי:
Let him not greet or return greetings to his teacher in the way that friends greet or return greetings to each other,1Ibid., 27b. but he bows before his teacher with reverence and honor and says, “Peace be with you, my rabbi and teacher.” 2Gittin 62a.
