לְךָ אֲדֹנָי הַצְּדָקָה

Righteousness is Yours, Adonoy

וְלָנוּ בֹּשֶׁת הַפָּנִים.

while shame is ours.

מַה־נִּתְאוֹנֵן

How can we complain?

וּמַה־נֹּאמַר.

What can we say?

מַה־נְּדַבֵּר

What can we speak?

וּמַה נִּצְטַדָּק:

And how can we justify ourselves?

נַחְפְּשָׂה דְּרָכֵינוּ וְנַחְקֹרָה

Let us search into our ways and examine them,

וְנָשׁוּבָה אֵלֶיךָ.

and return to You;

כִּי יְמִינְךָ פְּשׁוּטָה

for Your right hand is extended

לְקַבֵּל שָׁבִים:

to receive those who repent.

לֹא־בְחֶסֶד וְלֹא־בְמַעֲשִׂים

Not with virtue nor with good deeds

בָּאנוּ לְפָנֶיךָ.

do we come before You,

כְּדַלִּים וּכְרָשִׁים

but like the poor and needy

דָּפַקְנוּ דְּלָתֶיךָ:

we knock at Your door.

דְּלָתֶיךָ דָּפַקְנוּ

At Your door, do we knock,

רַחוּם וְחַנּוּן.

Merciful and Gracious One.

נָא אַל־תְּשִׁיבֵנוּ רֵיקָם

Please do not turn us away empty-handed

מִלְּפָנֶיךָ:

from Your Presence.

מִלְּפָנֶיךָ מַלְכֵּנוּ

From Your Presence our King

רֵיקָם אַל־תְּשִׁיבֵנוּ.

turn us not away empty-handed;

כִּי אַתָּה שׁוֹמֵעַ תְּפִלָּה:

for You hear [our] prayers.

שֹׁמֵֽעַ תְּפִלָּה,

You Who hears prayer,

עָדֶֽיךָ כָּל בָּשָׂר יָבֹֽאוּ:

unto You does all flesh come.

יָבוֹא כָל בָּשָׂר

All flesh shall come

לְהִשְׁתַּחֲוֹת לְפָנֶיךָ יְהֹוָה:

to prostrate themselves before You, Adonoy.

יָבֽוֹאוּ וְיִשְׁתַּחֲווּ

They will come and prostrate themselves

לְפָנֶֽיךָ אֲדֹנָי,

before You, my Master

וִיכַבְּדוּ לִשְׁמֶךָ:

and they will give honor to Your Name.

בֹּֽאוּ נִשְׁתַּחֲוֶה וְנִכְרָעָה.

Come let us prostrate ourselves and bow;

נִבְרְכָה לִפְנֵי יְהֹוָה עֹשֵֽׂנוּ:

let us kneel before Adonoy, our Maker.

בֹּֽאוּ שְׁעָרָיו בְּתוֹדָה,

Enter His gates with thanksgiving,

חֲצֵרוֹתָיו בִּתְהִלָּה.

His courtyards with praise,

הֽוֹדוּ לוֹ בָּרְכוּ שְׁמוֹ:

give thanks to Him, bless His Name.

וַאֲנַחְנוּ בְּרֹב חַסְדְּךָ

As for us, through Your abundant kindness

נָבוֹא בֵיתֶֽךָ.

we will enter Your House;

נִשְׁתַּחֲוֶה

we will prostrate ourselves

אֶל הֵיכַל־קָדְשְׁךָ בְּיִרְאָתֶֽךָ:

toward Your Holy Sanctuary in awe of You.

הִנֵּה בָּרְכוּ אֶת יְהֹוָה

Behold, bless Adonoy—

כָּל עַבְדֵי יְהֹוָה

all [you] servants of Adonoy,

הָעוֹמְדִים בְּבֵית יְהֹוָה

who stand in the House of Adonoy

בַּלֵּילוֹת:

in the night.

שְׂאוּ יְדֵיכֶם קֹֽדֶשׁ,

Lift your hands to the Sanctuary

וּבָרְכוּ אֶת יְהֹוָה:

and bless Adonoy.

נָבוֹאָה לְמִשְׁכְּנוֹתָיו,

Let us come to His Dwelling Places,

נִשְׁתַּחֲוֶה לַהֲדֹם רַגְלָיו:

let us prostrate ourselves at His footstool.

רוֹמְמוּ יְהֹוָה אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ,

Exalt Adonoy, our God,

וְהִשְׁתַּחֲווּ לַהֲדֹם רַגְלָיו.

and prostrate yourselves at His footstool,

קָדוֹשׁ הוּא:

Holy is He!

רוֹמְמוּ יְהֹוָה אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ,

Exalt Adonoy, our God

וְהִשְׁתַּחֲווּ לְהַר קָדְשׁוֹ.

and prostrate yourselves at His holy mountain,

כִּי קָדוֹשׁ יְהֹוָה אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ:

for Adonoy our God is holy.

הִשְׁתַּחֲווּ לַיהֹוָה

Prostrate yourselves before Adonoy

בְּהַדְרַת קֹֽדֶשׁ,

in the splendor of holiness,

חִֽילוּ מִפָּנָיו כָּל הָאָֽרֶץ:

tremble before Him all [peoples of] the earth.

נִשְׁתַּחֲוֶה

We will prostrate ourselves

אֶל הֵיכַל קָדְשְׁךָ,

toward Your Holy Sanctuary,

וְנוֹדֶה אֶת שְׁמֶךָ

and give thanks to Your Name

עַל חַסְדְךָ וְעַל אֲמִתֶּֽךָ.

for Your kindness and for Your truth;

כִּי הִגְדַּֽלְתָּ

for You have magnified

עַל כָּל שִׁמְךָ אִמְרָתֶֽךָ:

Your word far beyond Your Name.

יְהֹוָה אֱלֹהֵי צְבָאוֹת,

Adonoy, God of Hosts,

מִי כָמֽוֹךָ חֲסִין יָהּ.

who is like You, a mighty God;

וֶאֱמוּנָתְךָ סְבִיבוֹתֶֽיךָ:

and Your faithfulness is round about You.

כִּי מִי בַשַּֽׁחַק

For who in the skies

יַעֲרֹךְ לַיהֹוָה,

can be compared to Adonoy,

יִדְמֶה לַיהֹוָה

who can be likened to Adonoy

בִּבְנֵי אֵלִים:

among the sons of the mighty?

כִּי גָדוֹל אַתָּה

For You are great

וְעֹשֶׂה נִפְלָאוֹת,

and do wondrous things;

אַתָּה אֱלֹהִים לְבַדֶּֽךָ:

You alone are God.

כִּי גָדוֹל מֵעַל שָׁמַֽיִם

For great beyond the heavens

חַסְדֶּֽךָ,

is Your kindness,

וְעַד שְׁחָקִים אֲמִתֶּֽךָ:

and until the skies is Your truth.

גָּדוֹל יְהֹוָה וּמְהֻלָּל מְאֹד,

Great is Adonoy and highly extolled,

וְלִגְדֻלָּתוֹ אֵין חֵֽקֶר:

and His greatness is unfathomable.

כִּי גָדוֹל יְהֹוָה וּמְהֻלָּל מְאֹד,

For great is Adonoy and most highly extolled,

נוֹרָא הוּא עַל כָּל אֱלֹהִים:

and awesome is He above all gods.

כִּי אֵל גָּדוֹל יְהֹוָה,

For a great Almighty is Adonoy

וּמֶֽלֶךְ גָּדוֹל עַל כָּל אֱלֹהִים:

and a great King over all gods.

אֲשֶׁר מִי אֵל בַּשָּׁמַֽיִם וּבָאָֽרֶץ,

For who is so mighty in heaven or on earth

אֲשֶׁר יַעֲשֶׂה כְמַעֲשֶֽׂיךָ

that can duplicate Your works

וְכִגְבוּרֹתֶֽיךָ:

and Your power.

מִי לֹא יִרָאֲךָ מֶֽלֶךְ הַגּוֹיִם,

Who would not fear You, King of nations?

כִּי לְךָ יָאָֽתָה.

For to You it is fitting;

כִּי בְכָל חַכְמֵי הַגּוֹיִם

for among all the wise ones of the nations,

וּבְכָל מַלְכוּתָם,

and in all their kingdoms,

מֵאֵין כָּמֽוֹךָ:

there is none like You.

מֵאֵין כָּמֽוֹךָ יְהֹוָה.

There is none like You, Adonoy

גָּדוֹל אַתָּה,

great are You,

וְגָדוֹל שִׁמְךָ בִּגְבוּרָה:

and great is Your Name in might.

לְךָ זְרֽוֹעַ עִם גְּבוּרָה.

Yours is an arm with might

תָּעֹז יָדְךָ, תָּרוּם יְמִינֶֽךָ:

strong is Your hand, exalted is Your right hand.

לְךָ יוֹם אַף לְךָ לָֽיְלָה.

Yours is the day, also Yours is the night,

אַתָּה הֲכִינֽוֹתָ מָאוֹר וָשָֽׁמֶשׁ:

You established [the] luminary and [the] sun.

אֲשֶׁר בְּיָדוֹ מֶחְקְרֵי אָֽרֶץ,

For in His hands are the depths of the earth,

וְתוֹעֲפוֹת הָרִים לוֹ:

and the heights of the mountains are His.

מִי יְמַלֵּל גְּבוּרוֹת יְהֹוָה,

Who can recount the mighty deeds of Adonoy,

יַשְׁמִֽיעַ כָּל תְּהִלָּתוֹ:

or cause to be heard all His praise?

לְךָ יְהֹוָה

Yours Adonoy

הַגְּדֻלָּה וְהַגְּבוּרָה וְהַתִּפְאֶרֶת

is the greatness, the might, the glory,

וְהַנֵּֽצַח וְהַהוֹד,

the victory and the beauty,

כִּי כֹּל בַּשָּׁמַֽיִם וּבָאָֽרֶץ.

for all that is in heaven and on earth [is Yours];

לְךָ יְהֹוָה הַמַּמְלְכָה,

Yours Adonoy, is the kingdom,

וְהַמִּתְנַשֵּׂא לְכֹל לְרֹאשׁ:

and You are uplifted over all rulers.

לְךָ שָׁמַֽיִם,

Yours are the heavens,

אַף לְךָ אָֽרֶץ

also Yours is the earth,

תֵּבֵל וּמְלֹאָהּ

the inhabited world and its fullness;

אַתָּה יְסַדְתָּם:

You have founded them.

אַתָּה הִצַּֽבְתָּ כָּל גְּבוּלוֹת אָֽרֶץ.

You set all the borders of the earth,

קַֽיִץ וָחֹֽרֶף אַתָּה יְצַרְתָּם:

summer and winter, You formed them.

אַתָּה רִצַּֽצְתָּ רָאשֵׁי לִוְיָתָן,

You crushed the heads of Leviathan,

תִּתְּנֶֽנוּ מַאֲכָל לְעַם לְצִיִּים:

You gave him as food to the people of legions.

אַתָּה בָקַעְתָּ מַעְיָן וָנָֽחַל,

You split open the fountain and brook,

אַתָּה הוֹבַֽשְׁתָּ נַהֲרוֹת אֵיתָן:

You dried up mighty rivers.

אַתָּה פוֹרַרְתָּ בְעָזְּךָ יָם,

You crumbled the sea with Your strength;

שִׁבַּֽרְתָּ רָאשֵׁי תַנִּינִים

You shattered the heads of sea monsters

עַל הַמָּֽיִם:

upon the waters.

אַתָּה מוֹשֵׁל בְּגֵאוּת הַיָּם,

You rule over the majesty of the sea;

בְּשׂוֹא גַלָּיו אַתָּה תְשַׁבְּחֵם:

when it raises its waves, You still them.

גָּדוֹל יְהֹוָה וּמְהֻלָל מְאֹד,

Great is Adonoy and highly extolled

בְּעִיר אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ

in the city of our God,

הַר קָדְשׁוֹ:

the mountain of His Sanctuary.

יְהֹוָה צְבָאוֹת אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל

Adonoy of Hosts, God of Israel,

ישֵׁב הַכְּרֻבִים,

enthroned upon the cherubim

אַתָּה הוּא הָאֱלֹהִים לְבַדֶֽךָ:

You alone are God.

אֵל נַעֲרָץ

The Almighty is revered

בְּסוֹד קְדוֹשִׁים רַבָּה,

in the great council of the holy ones

וְנוֹרָא

and is awe inspiring

עַל כָּל סְבִיבָיו:

over all that are about Him.

וְיוֹדוּ שָׁמַֽיִם פִּלְאֲךָ

And the heavens will praise Your wonders,

יְהֹוָה,

Adonoy,

אַף אֱמוּנָתְךָ

and Your faithfulness [will be praised]

בִּקְהַל קְדשִׁים:

in the assembly of holy ones.

לְכוּ נְרַנְּנָה לַיהֹוָה,

Come let us sing to Adonoy,

נָרִֽיעָה

let us sound the shofar

לְצוּר יִשְׁעֵֽנוּ:

to the Rock of our deliverance.

נְקַדְּמָה פָנָיו בְּתוֹדָה,

Let us greet His Presence with thanksgiving,

בִּזְמִרוֹת נָרִֽיעַ לוֹ:

with hymns let us raise our voices unto Him.

צֶֽדֶק וּמִשְׁפָּט

Righteousness and justice

מְכוֹן כִּסְאֶֽךָ,

are the foundations of Your throne,

חֶסֶד וֶאֱמֶת יְקַדְּמוּ פָנֶֽיךָ:

kindness and truth precede Your Presence.

אֲשֶׁר יַחְדָו נַמְתִּיק סוֹד,

For together let us take sweet counsel;

בְּבֵית אֱלֹהִים

into the House of God

נְהַלֵּךְ בְּרָֽגֶשׁ:

let us walk with the throngs.

אֲשֶׁר לוֹ הַיָּם וְהוּא עָשָֽׂהוּ,

For the sea is His, and He made it;

וְיַבֶּֽשֶׁת יָדָיו יָצָֽרוּ:

and the dry land, His hands formed.

אֲשֶׁר בְּיָדוֹ

For in His hand

נֶֽפֶשׁ כָּל חָי,

is the soul of every living thing,

וְרֽוּחַ כָּל בְּשַׂר אִישׁ:

and the spirit of all human flesh.

הַנְּשָׁמָה לָךְ,

The soul is Yours,

וְהַגּוּף פָּעֳלָךָ

and the body is Your doing,

חוּסָה עַל עֲמָלָךְ:

have pity on Your work.

הַנְּשָׁמָה לָךְ, וְהַגּוּף שֶׁלָּךְ.

The soul is Yours, and the body is Yours,

יְהֹוָה עֲשֵׂה

Adonoy! Act [on our behalf]

לְמַֽעַן שְׁמֶֽךָ:

for the sake of Your Name.

אָֽתָאנוּ עַל שִׁמְךָ.

We have come [relying] on Your Name,

יְהֹוָה, עֲשֵׂה

Adonoy! Act [on our behalf]

לְמַֽעַן שְׁמֶֽךָ:

for the sake of Your Name.

בַּעֲבוּר כְבוֹד שִׁמְךָ,

For the sake of the glory of Your Name,

כִּי אֵל חַנּוּן וְרַחוּם

for gracious and merciful Almighty

שְׁמֶֽךָ:

is Your Name,

לְמַֽעַן שִׁמְךָ יְהֹוָה.

For the sake of Your Name, Adonoy,

וְסָלַחְתָּ לַעֲו‍ֹנֵֽנוּ, כִּי רַב הוּא:

pardon our iniquity, for it is great.

סְלַח לָנוּ אָבִינוּ,

Pardon us our Father,

כִּי בְּרוֹב אִוַּלְתֵּנוּ

because of our great foolishness,

שָׁגִינוּ.

we have sinned.

מְחַל־לָנוּ מַלְכֵּנוּ,

Forgive us our King,

כִּי רַבּוּ עֲוֹנֵינוּ:

for our iniquity is great.
