Selichot Nusach Lita Linear · First Day, Chapter 6

‹›
  1. 1

  2. 2

After the departure of the Sabbath,

  3. 3

    we approach You [in prayer,]

  4. 4

incline Your ear from on high,

  5. 5

You Who are enthroned upon praises,

  6. 6

[and] hear our cry and our prayer!

  7. 7

    Raise Your mighty, right hand

  8. 8

to act valiently [against our accusers;]

  9. 9

for the sake of [Isaac] the righteous one,

  10. 10

who was bound [on the altar,]

  11. 11

and in whose stead a ram was slain—

  12. 12

    shield his descendants

  13. 13

as they cry to You while it is yet night,

  14. 14

[and] hear our cry and our prayer!

  15. 15

Turn to those who seek You

  16. 16

    when they seek Your Presence,

  17. 17

    be accessible to them

  18. 18

    from Your Heavenly Abode,

  19. 19

and to the cry of their supplication

  20. 20

    אַל תַּעְלֵם אָזְנֶךָ.

    close not Your ear;

  21. 21

[and] hear our cry and our prayer!

  22. 22

    They tremble and quake

  23. 23

at the day of Your coming [to judge them,]

  24. 24

    they are panic-struck—

  25. 25

as a woman giving birth the first time,

  26. 26

    מֵעֶבְרַת מַשָּׂאֶךָ.

    from the burning wrath You carry;

  27. 27

O’ please, wipe away their filth

  28. 28

that they may praise Your wonders,

  29. 29

[and] hear our cry and our prayer!

  30. 30

You are the Creator of all that is formed,

  31. 31

You prepared from of old, a remedy

  32. 32

    to save them from distress,

  33. 33

by bestowing undeserved grace upon them

  34. 34

    from Your hidden treasure.

  35. 35

Hear our cry and our prayer!

  36. 36

    Exalted One,

  37. 37

if the sins of Your congregation are great,

  38. 38

    strengthen them, we pray

  39. 39

    מֵאוֹצָר הַמּוּכָן בִּזְבוּלֶךָ.

    from the treasure stored in Your abode;

  40. 40

    Your community [implores You]

  41. 41

    to grant them undeserving grace

  42. 42

    as they approach You.

  43. 43

Hear our cry and our prayer!

  44. 44

    Turn to our sufferings

  45. 45

    and not to our sins,

  46. 46

    צַדֵּק צוֹעֲקֶיךָ

    justify those who cry out to You;

  47. 47

    [God] who performs wonders,

  48. 48

    listen to their supplication,

  49. 49

    God, Adonoy of Hosts.

  50. 50

Hear our cry and our prayer!

  51. 51

Be pleased [and accept their pleadings

  52. 52

as they stand [before You] at night,

  53. 53

    regard [their prayers] with favor

  54. 54

    כְּקָרְבַּן כָּלִיל וְעוֹלוֹת.

    as the offering of burnt-offerings;

  55. 55

    show them Your miracles

  56. 56

    He Who does great things.

  57. 57

Hear our cry and our prayer!

  58. 58

    Almighty! King!

  59. 59

Who sits on the throne of mercy,

  60. 60

    governs with kindness

  61. 61

forgives the iniquities of His people.

  62. 62

He removes their sins one by one,

  63. 63

    increasing forgiveness to sinners,

  64. 64

    and pardon to transgressors.

  65. 65

    Acting righteously

  66. 66

    עִם כָּל בָּשָׂר וָרֽוּחַ.

    with all who are of flesh and spirit;

  67. 67

    not according to their wickedness

  68. 68

    does He repay them.

  69. 69

    Almighty!

  70. 70

    You instructed us to recite

  71. 71

    שְׁלשׁ עֶשְׂרֵה.

    the thirteen Divine attributes;

  72. 72

    remember unto us this day

  73. 73

the covenant of thirteen Divine attributes,

  74. 74

    as You made them known

  75. 75

to the humble Moses of old,

  76. 76

    as it is written,

  77. 77

“And Adonoy descended in the cloud,

  78. 78

    and stood with him there,

  79. 79

    and proclaimed the Name, Adonoy.

  80. 80

    Congregation and Chazzan:

  81. 81

And Adonoy passed before him [Moses],

  82. 82

    and proclaimed:

  83. 83

    Adonoy, Adonoy,

  84. 84

    Almighty, Merciful, Gracious,

  85. 85

    Slow to Anger,

  86. 86

and Abundant in Kindness, and Truth.

  87. 87

    Keeper of kindness

  88. 88

    for thousands of generations,

  89. 89

    Endurer of iniquity, and transgression,

  90. 90

    וְחַטָּאָה

    and sin;

  91. 91

and Acquitter of those who repent.”

  92. 92

“And pardon our iniquity and our sin,

  93. 93

and take us for Your inheritance.”

  94. 94

Pardon us our Father, for we have sinned,

  95. 95

forgive us our King, for we have transgressed.

  96. 96

    “For You, my Master,

  97. 97

    are good and forgiving,

  98. 98

    and abounding in kindness

  99. 99

to all who call upon You.”
