קהובא בהגמ"י ח"ב מהל' מגילה אות ה' ושם באורך יותר. הנ"ל. ומה שנוהגים ליתן בפורים לשפחות בעיר חדשה שלא הרגילם בכך אסור להרגיל' ורבי' אפרים ז"ל היה קורא עליהן וכסףרצ"ל הרביתי לה. הרבותי להם וזהב עשו לבעל אבל במקום שהרגילם כבר אין לבטל הדבר מפני דרכי שלום כדתנן (גיטין דף ס"א.) מפרנסין עניי גוים עם עניי ישראל מפני דרכי שלום:
In a new town it is forbidden to introduce the custom of giving presents to Gentile servants on Purim. R. Ephraim applied to this custom the verse: "and I multiplied unto her silver and gold, which they used for Baal (Hos. 2, 10)."
