1א. לִפְעָמִים כְּשֶׁאָדָם עוֹשֶׂה מִצְוָה, וְהַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא מַעֲנִישׁ אוֹתוֹ, זֶה מֵחֲמַת שֶׁלֹּא עָשָׂה מִצְוָה כָּזֶה, כְּשֶׁבָּאָה לְיָדוֹ.A person is sometimes punished even in the performance of a mitzvah. This is because, previously, he passed up an opportunity to fulfill just such a mitzvah.
