Sichot HaRan · Chapter 157

‹›
  1. 1

I heard that the Rebbe once said that he had revealed many lessons related to his illness.266Of the lessons in Likutey Moharan II, the following mention the lungs: 2:6, said on Shabbat Chanukah 5569 (December 17, 1808); 5:16, said on Rosh HaShanah 5570 (September 11, 1809); 7:12, said on Shabbat Chanukah 5570 (December 9, 1809); 8:12, said on Rosh HaShanah 5571 (September 29, 1810). Rebbe Nachman had returned from Lemberg in the summer of 5568/1808. In fact, after his return from Lemberg (Lvov), he spoke about the lungs in almost every lesson he gave, since he was suffering from tuberculosis – a lung disease – may God spare us.

  2. 2

The Rebbe said that in light of the amount of lessons he had given on this topic, he should have been healed already. The fault, however, was his audience’s lack of faith — their faith was not that strong.
