יֵרָצֶה צוֹם עַמְּךָ

Accept Your people’s fast

אֲשֶׁר דָּמוֹ לְךָ מַזֶּה.

who sprinkle their blood to You;

חֲשֹׁב חֶלְבּוֹ כְּעַל־זֶבַח

consider their fat as an offering,

וְקָרְבָּנוֹ אַל תִּבְזֶה.

do not disdain their sacrifice.

חֲתֹם עָלָיו אוֹת־חַיִּים

Set upon them the sign of life—

וּתְפִלָּתוֹ תֶחֱזֶה.

regard their prayer.

מָחָר יִהְיֶה הָאוֹת הַזֶּה:

This sign will take place tomorrow.

צִדְקָתְךָ הִתְאַזָּר

Gird Yourself with righteousness,

שׁוֹכֵן עַד וּמְרוֹמָם.

eternal and lofty Reposer.

סְמֹךְ נָא הַנִּכְשָׁלִים

Support the stumblers,

שְׁלַח יָדְךָ לַהֲקִימָם.

extend Your hand to lift them

אֲשֶׁר דִּמְעָם שִׁקּוּיָם

whose tear is their drink,

וְאַנְחָתָם הִיא לַחְמָם.

whose groan is their bread.

וְתִנְקֹם דַּם עֲבָדֶיךָ

Avenge the blood of Your servants

מֵאוֹיְבֶיךָ עַד תֻּמָּם.

from their enemies, until they are no more.

וְתִדְרֹשׁ לְשֶׁפֶךְ דָּמָם

Look at their blood that is shed

לָדַעַת מַה־זֶּה וְעַל־מַה־זֶּה:

to know why and wherefore this.

מָחָר יִהְיֶה הָאוֹת הַזֶּה:

This sign will take place tomorrow.

חַנּוּן חֹן עַמְּךָ

Gracious One! grant Your people

אֲשֶׁר לְשִׁמְךָ הוּא מַאֲמִין.

who trust in Your Name;

סַנֵּגוֹר עָלַי תְּמַנֶּה

appoint and advocate for me

אֲשֶׁר חַטָּאתִי יַטְמִין.

who will hide my sin—

וְחוֹבִי בִּשְֹמֹאל יַכְמִין

hide my debt in his left

זְכוּתִי יַעֲלֶה בִּימִין.

and raise my merit in his right,

וְאֵפֶר יִצְחָק יַזְמִין

and bring up Isaac’s ashes]

אֲשֶׁר יאֹמַר כִּי הוּא זֶה:

so that He will say, “This is it!”

מָחָר יִהְיֶה הָאוֹת הַזֶּה:

This sign will take place tomorrow.

קְרַב וּשְׁמַע רִנָּתִי

Come and hear my prayer;

לְזַעֲקָתִי תִּפְתַּח שַׁעַר.

open the gate before my cries

לְזַכּוֹת אֶת חַטָּאתִי

to cleanse me of sin

כְּמוֹ בֶן־שָׁנָה נַעַר.

like a one-year-old.

וְתַחֲסֹם לְשׁוֹן מַשְׂטִינִי

And silence the tongue of my prosecutor;

וְאֶת־פִּיהוּ לֹא יִפְעַר.

let him not open his mouth.

יְהֹוָה בַּשָֹּטָן יִגְעַר

Adonoy will shout at Satan,

קוּם־רֵד מַהֵר מִזֶּה:

“Get off this, immediately!”

מָחָר יִהְיֶה הָאוֹת הַזֶּה:

This sign will take place tomorrow.

בַּמֶּה אֲקַדֵּם וְאִכַּף

How shall I greet, approach,

פְּנֵי לֹא יִקַּח שֹׁחַד.

the One Who takes no bribe?

וּבְיָדִי אֵין מַעַשֹ

I have no deed in hand,

וְעַל־זֹאת לִבִּי יִפְחַד.

and my heart is therefore afraid.

אֲבָל עַתָּה בְּזָכְרִי

But now that I mention

מַלְכוּת שֵׁם הַמְיֻחָד.

the kingship of Your unique Name,

וְעַל זֹאת אֲנִי בוֹטֵחַ

on this I rely,

בְּאוֹמְרִים יְהֹוָה אֶחָד.

when we say “Adonoy is One”

וּמוֹשְׁכִים כֻּלָּם יַחַד

in unison as one,

מִזֶּה אֶחָד וּמִזֶּה:

one on that side and one on this.

מָחָר יִהְיֶה הָאוֹת הַזֶּה:

This sign will take place tomorrow.

רְאֵה אֵין־מְכַפֵּר בַּעֲדִי

See, I have no one atoning for me,

וְאֵין סוֹדֵר לִי סֵדֶר.

no one to serve for me;

וּבִגְדֵי לָבָן אַיִן

the priest, garbed in white, is no longer,

וְאֵין לוֹבֵשׁ הָאֵדֶר.

nor is the High Priest, adorned in glory,

וְגַם אֵין־קָרְבָּן חוֹבָה

nor is there an obligatory, sin-offering,

וְלֹא נְדָבָה וָנֶדֶר.

nor free-will and vow-offering;

וְאַתָּה תְּכַפֵּר עָלַי

so You will atone for me,

בּוֹחֵן כְּלָיוֹת וָחֵדֶר.

examiner of kidney and chamber.

גְּדֹר פִּרְצַת צֹאנֶךָ

Close the breaches of Your sheep

וְשִֹים רֶוַח לָעֵדֶר.

and make space for the flock.

וְתִבְנֶה לָמוֹ גָּדֵר

Build them a fence

מִזֶּה וְגָדֵר מִזֶּה:

on that side and one on this.

מָחָר יִהְיֶה הָאוֹת הַזֶּה:

This sign will take place tomorrow.

צֵל קוֹרָתְךָ בָּאוּ בָּנִים

Under Your shield have come the children

אֲשֶׁר נִגְרָשׁוּ.

who were exiled;

בֵּיתְךָ כְּנִתְוַעֲדוּ

Your children have gathered in Your house,

רָעֲשׁוּ וְגַם נִתְגָּעֲשׁוּ.

awed and upset.

חֶסֶד אֲבוֹתָם תִּזְכֹּר

Recall the kindliness of their forefathers

עֵת לָרִיב יִגָּשׁוּ.

when they come to be judged;

אֱמֶת וְשָׁלוֹם נִפְגָּשׁוּ

in truth and peace they meet,

גַּם אֶת־זֶה לְעֻמַּת זֶה:

that one facing this one.

מָחָר יִהְיֶה הָאוֹת הַזֶּה:

This sign will take place tomorrow.

אֵל מֶֽלֶךְ.

Almighty! King!

יוֹשֵׁב עַל כִּסֵּא רַחֲמִים.

Who sits on the throne of mercy,

מִתְנַהֵג בַּחֲסִידוּת.

governs with kindness

מוֹחֵל עֲו‍ֹנוֹת עַמּוֹ.

forgives the iniquities of His people.

מַעֲבִיר רִאשׁוֹן רִאשׁוֹן.

He removes their sins one by one,

מַרְבֶּה מְחִילָה לְחַטָּאִים

increasing forgiveness to sinners,

וּסְלִיחָה לְפוֹשְׁעִים.

and pardon to transgressors.

עוֹשֶׂה צְדָקוֹת

Acting righteously

עִם כָּל בָּשָׂר וָרֽוּחַ.

with all who are of flesh and spirit;

לֹא כְרָעָתָם

not according to their wickedness

תִּגְמוֹל:

does He repay them.

אֵל

Almighty!

הוֹרֵיתָ לָנוּ לוֹמַר

You instructed us to recite

שְׁלשׁ עֶשְׂרֵה.

the thirteen Divine attributes;

וּזְכָר לָֽנוּ הַיּוֹם

remember unto us this day

בְּרִית שְׁלשׁ עֶשְׂרֵה.

the covenant of thirteen Divine attributes,

כְּמוֹ שֶׁהוֹדַֽעְתָּ

as You made them known

לֶעָנָו מִקֶּֽדֶם.

to the humble Moses of old,

כְּמוֹ שֶׁכָּתוּב

as it is written,

וַיֵּרֶד יְהֹוָה בֶּֽעָנָן

“And Adonoy descended in the cloud,

וַיִּתְיַצֵּב עִמּוֹ שָׁם

and stood with him there,

וַיִּקְרָא בְשֵׁם יְהֹוָה:

and proclaimed the Name, Adonoy.

Congregation and Chazzan:

וַיַּֽעֲבֹר יְהֹוָה עַל פָּנָיו

And Adonoy passed before him [Moses],

וַיִּקְרָא:

and proclaimed:

יְהֹוָה יְהֹוָה

Adonoy, Adonoy,

אֵל רַחוּם וְחַנּוּן

Almighty, Merciful, Gracious,

אֶֽרֶךְ אַפַּֽיִם

Slow to Anger,

וְרַב חֶֽסֶד וֶֽאֱמֶת:

and Abundant in Kindness, and Truth.

נֹצֵר חֶֽסֶד

Keeper of kindness

לָאֲלָפִים

for thousands of generations,

נֹשֵׂא עָו‍ֹן וָפֶֽשַׁע

Endurer of iniquity, and transgression,

וְחַטָּאָה

and sin;

וְנַקֵּה:

and Acquitter of those who repent.

וְסָלַחְתָּ לַעֲו‍ֹנֵֽנוּ וּלְחַטָּאתֵֽנוּ

“And pardon our iniquity and our sin,

וּנְחַלְתָּֽנוּ:

and take us for Your inheritance.”

סְלַח לָֽנוּ אָבִֽינוּ כִּי חָטָֽאנוּ.

Pardon us our Father, for we have sinned,

מְחַל לָֽנוּ מַלְכֵּֽנוּ כִּי פָשָֽׁעְנוּ:

forgive us our King, for we have transgressed.

כִּי אַתָּה אֲדֹנָי

“For You, my Master,

טוֹב וְסַלָּח

are good and forgiving,

וְרַב חֶֽסֶד

and abounding in kindness

לְכָל קֹרְאֶֽיךָ:

to all who call upon You.”

אַל תִּזְכָּר לָנוּ עֲו‍ֹנוֹת רִאשׁוֹנִים.

Remember not the sins of our ancestors;

מַהֵר יְקַדְּמוּנוּ רַחֲמֶיךָ

let Your compassion come swiftly toward us,

כִּי דַלּוֹנוּ מְאֹד:

for we have been brought very low.

חַטֹּאת נְעוּרֵינוּ וְפְשָׁעֵינוּ

The sins of our youth and our transgressions,

אַל תִּזְכֹּר

remember not;

כְּחַסְדְּךָ זְכָר לָנוּ אַתָּה

with Your kindliness remember us

לְמַעַן טוּבְךָ יְהֹוָה

for the sake of Your goodness, Adonoy.

זְכֹר רַחֲמֶֽיךָ יְהֹוָה

Remember Your mercies, Adonoy,

וַחֲסָדֶֽיךָ

and kindlinesses

כִּי מֵעוֹלָם הֵֽמָּה:

for they are from the beginning of the world.

זָכְרֵֽנוּ יְהֹוָה

Remember us Adonoy

בִּרְצוֹן עַמֶּֽךָ

with favor for Your people

פָּקְדֵֽנוּ בִּישׁוּעָתֶֽךָ:

recall us with Your deliverance.

זְכֹר עֲדָתְךָ

Remember Your congregation

קָנִֽיתָ קֶּֽדֶם

which You have acquired of old,

גָּאַֽלְתָּ שֵֽׁבֶט

You have redeemed the tribe

נַחֲלָתֶֽךָ

of Your inheritance,

הַר צִיּוֹן זֶה שָׁכַנְתָּ בּוֹ:

this mountain of Zion where You have dwelled.

זְּכוֹר יְהֹוָה חִבַּת יְרוּשָׁלָֽםִ

Remember, Adonoy, the affection of Jerusalem,

אַהֲבַת צִיּוֹן אַל תִּשְׁכַּח לָנֶֽצַח:

the love of Zion, forget not until eternity.

זְכֹר יְהֹוָה

Remember, Adonoy,

לִבְנֵי אֱדוֹם אֵת יוֹם יְרוּשָׁלָֽםִ

to the sons of Edom, the day of Jerusalem,

הָאֹמְרִים

[it was they] who said,

עָֽרוּ עָֽרוּ עַד הַיְסוֹד בָּהּ:

“Raze it, raze it to its very foundations.”

אַתָּה תָקוּם

You will arise

תְּרַחֵם צִיּוֹן.

and have compassion on Zion,

כִּי עֵת לְחֶנְנָהּ

for it is time to be gracious to her,

כִּי בָא מוֹעֵד:

for the appointed time has come.

זְכֹר לְאַבְרָהָם לְיִצְחָק וּלְיִשְׂרָאֵל

Remember Abraham, Isaac, Israel,

עֲבָדֶֽיךָ

Your servants,

אֲשֶׁר נִשְׁבַּֽעְתָּ לָהֶם בָּךְ

to whom You swore by Your very Self,

וַתְּדַבֵּר אֲלֵהֶם

and You said to them:

אַרְבֶּה אֶת זַרְעֲכֶם

“I will multiply your seed

כְּכוֹכְבֵי הַשָּׁמָֽיִם.

as the stars of the heavens;

וְכָל הָאָֽרֶץ הַזֹּאת אֲשֶׁר אָמַֽרְתִּי

and all this land that I have promised,

אֶתֵּן לְזַרְעֲכֶם

I will give to your descendants,

וְנָחֲלוּ לְעוֹלָם:

and they will inherit it forever.”

זְכֹר לַעֲבָדֶֽיךָ

Remember Your servants,

לְאַבְרָהָם לְיִצְחָק וּלְיַעֲקֹב.

Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob;

אַל תֵּֽפֶן אֶל קְשִׁי הָעָם הַזֶּה

do not regard the stubborness of this people,

וְאֶל רִשְׁעוֹ וְאֶל חַטָּאתוֹ:

or their wickedness, or their sin.

אַל נָא

Do not, we beseech You

תָשֵׁת עָלֵֽינוּ חַטָּאת

place upon us this sin,

אֲשֶׁר נוֹאַֽלְנוּ וַאֲשֶׁר חָטָֽאנוּ:

wherein we have acted foolishly and sinned.

חָטָֽאנוּ צוּרֵֽנוּ

We have sinned, our Rock;

סְלַח לָֽנוּ יוֹצְרֵֽנוּ:

pardon us our Creator.

זְכוֹר לָֽנוּ בְּרִית אָבוֹת

Remember to us the covenant of the Patriarchs,

כַּאֲשֶׁר אָמַֽרְתָּ.

as You promised,

וְזָכַרְתִּי אֶת בְּרִיתִי יַעֲקוֹב

“And I will remember my covenant with Jacob,

וְאַף אֶת בְּרִיתִי יִצְחָק

and also my covenant with Isaac,

וְאַף אֶת בְּרִיתִי אַבְרָהָם

and also my covenant with Abraham

אֶזְכֹּר

will I remember,”

וְהָאָֽרֶץ אֶזְכֹּר:

and the land I will remember.
