Selichot Nusach Lita Linear · Fourth Day, Chapter 3

‹›
  1. 1

Our God and God of our fathers!

  3. 3

I call out to You [knowing]

  4. 4

that the Almighty will answer me.

  5. 5

    I ask for [Your] mercy

  6. 6

as a beggar at the door.

  7. 7

    Reveal Your great awesomeness,

  8. 8

    ascent—answer us with righteousness,

  9. 9

    so that all will know

  10. 10

    that God is with Israel.

  11. 11

Behold, You have been from long ago

  12. 12

    my God, my Holy One,

  13. 13

why must I die of persecution and hardship?

  14. 14

    Recall and arouse Your kindliness—

  15. 15

    כְּאָז לְחַדְּשִׁי.

    renew it as before;

  16. 16

    restore my ruins [Jerusalem]

  17. 17

and establish the site of my Temple.

  18. 18

You are good to those who hope in You,

  19. 19

to the soul who seeks You.

  20. 20

We wait for You, in time of trouble—

  21. 21

    we seek You.

  22. 22

We are slaughtered for Your sake all the day,

  23. 23

    עַל־שֵׁם קָדְשֶךָ.

    for the sake of Your holy Name;

  24. 24

yet our hearts are not turned away

  25. 25

    from blessing You and

  26. 26

    sanctifying You[r Name].

  27. 27

We are consumed with fear from Your hand,

  28. 28

    by Your anger and wrath,

  29. 29

we are like an empty vessel,

  30. 30

    and are covered with shame.

  31. 31

We are put in the hands of cruel masters

  32. 32

    who terrorize us,

  33. 33

until Adonoy looks down and sees

  34. 34

    from the heavens.

  35. 35

Bring us out and save us

  36. 36

    from the hand of strangers,

  37. 37

they cut off our lives, spilling our blood,

  38. 38

    to destroy us.

  39. 39

    Declare retribution for the wicked,

  40. 40

pay them according to their deeds,

  41. 41

for He Who is concerned for the bloodshed,

  42. 42

[and] He is mindful of them.

  43. 43

Bring us back to You and rescind Your anger,

  44. 44

    conceal our iniquities

  45. 45

    and forgive our sins,

  46. 46

lift us up from our low state,

  47. 47

    וְלֹא נֵחָפֵר.

    and let us not be in disgrace;

  48. 48

when You record us, who yearn for Your glory,

  49. 49

inscribe us for life in Your book.

  50. 50

    Strengthen and encourage those

  51. 51

whose hands and knees are weak,

  52. 52

clear a way for Your people

  53. 53

    וְהָרֵם מִכְשׁוֹלוֹת.

    and remove [all] obstacles;

  54. 54

    may our prayers please You

  55. 55

    as sacrifices and Burnt-offerings,

  56. 56

    and You, Holy One,

  57. 57

    are enthroned upon praises.

  58. 58

    Almighty! King!

  59. 59

Who sits on the throne of mercy,

  60. 60

    governs with kindness

  61. 61

forgives the iniquities of His people.

  62. 62

He removes their sins one by one,

  63. 63

    increasing forgiveness to sinners,

  64. 64

    and pardon to transgressors.

  65. 65

    Acting righteously

  66. 66

    עִם כָּל בָּשָׂר וָרֽוּחַ.

    with all who are of flesh and spirit;

  67. 67

    not according to their wickedness

  68. 68

    does He repay them.

  69. 69

    Almighty!

  70. 70

    You instructed us to recite

  71. 71

    שְׁלשׁ עֶשְׂרֵה.

    the thirteen Divine attributes;

  72. 72

    remember unto us this day

  73. 73

the covenant of thirteen Divine attributes,

  74. 74

    as You made them known

  75. 75

to the humble Moses of old,

  76. 76

    as it is written,

  77. 77

“And Adonoy descended in the cloud,

  78. 78

    and stood with him there,

  79. 79

    and proclaimed the Name, Adonoy.

  80. 80

    Congregation and Chazzan:

  81. 81

And Adonoy passed before him [Moses],

  82. 82

    and proclaimed:

  83. 83

    Adonoy, Adonoy,

  84. 84

    Almighty, Merciful, Gracious,

  85. 85

    Slow to Anger,

  86. 86

and Abundant in Kindness, and Truth.

  87. 87

    Keeper of kindness

  88. 88

    for thousands of generations,

  89. 89

    Endurer of iniquity, and transgression,

  90. 90

    וְחַטָּאָה

    and sin;

  91. 91

and Acquitter of those who repent.

  92. 92

“And pardon our iniquity and our sin,

  93. 93

and take us for Your inheritance.”

  94. 94

Pardon us our Father, for we have sinned,

  95. 95

forgive us our King, for we have transgressed.

  96. 96

    “For You, my Master,

  97. 97

    are good and forgiving,

  98. 98

    and abounding in kindness

  99. 99

to all who call upon You.”

  100. 100

Look down from the heavens and see,

  101. 101

from the abode of Your holiness and glory.

  102. 102

Where is Your vengeance and Your might?

  103. 103

The multitude of Your compassion and mercy

  104. 104

    has been withheld from us.

  105. 105

    אַתָּה פוֹרַרְתָּ בְעָזְּךָ יָם,

    You split the sea with Your strength;

  106. 106

You shattered the heads of sea monsters

  107. 107

    upon the waters.

  108. 108

If our iniquities testify against us,

  109. 109

Adonoy, act [mercifully] for Your Name’s sake.

  110. 110

As a father has compassion on his children

  111. 111

so do You have compassion on us, Adonoy.

  112. 112

    לַיהֹוָה הַיְשׁוּעָה,

    Deliverance is Adonoy’s;

  113. 113

upon Your people is Your blessing. Selah!

  114. 114

Adonoy of Hosts is with us,

  115. 115

a stronghold for us is the God of Jacob. Selah!

  116. 116

    Adonoy of Hosts!

  117. 117

fortunate is the man who trusts in You.

  118. 118

    יְהֹוָה הוֹשִֽׁיעָה,

    Adonoy, deliver us;

  119. 119

the King will answer us on the day we call.

  120. 120

“Please pardon the sins of this nation

  121. 121

    in accordance with the greatness

  122. 122

    חַסְדֶּֽךָ.

    of Your lovingkindness;

  123. 123

and as You forgave this people

  124. 124

from when it left Egypt until now.”

  125. 125

    And there it is said:

  126. 126

    “And Adonoy said,

  127. 127

I have pardoned [them] as you have asked.”

  128. 128

Incline Your ear, my God, and hear,

  129. 129

open Your eyes and behold our desolate places,

  130. 130

    וְהָעִיר אֲשֶׁר נִקְרָא שִׁמְךָ עָלֶֽיהָ

    and the city which is called by Your Name;

  131. 131

for it is not on account of our righteousness

  132. 132

that we let fall our supplication before You,

  133. 133

but because of Your great mercy.

  134. 134

My Master, hear! My Master, pardon!

  135. 135

My Master, listen and take action,

  136. 136

    do not delay!

  137. 137

    For Your sake, my God,

  138. 138

    because Your Name is proclaimed

  139. 139

over Your city and over Your people.
