Regarding bottles, which the 'Sages of the Mountain' 1The rabbis of Montpellier said can be made kosher with a small amount of boiling water, which is poured into the bottles and shaken around2This seems to be have been the ruling of Rabbeinu Tam, at least in extraordinary cases. See Kol Bo 96:111 and Tosafot on Zevachim 95b:4. Other sages forbid this practice, and say that they need to be filled with boiling water if one wants to render them kosher, and just shaking some water does nothing to change their status, unless they are completely full. Otherwise, they need to be soaked in water for three full days 3i.e, 72 hours. This is the opinion of the Rif Avodah Zarah 12a. I asked [in my dream] whether the law follows those who forbid or those who permit.
