בתפלה צריך לשום כל כחו בהדיבורים, וילך כך מאות לאות עד שישכח מגופניות, ויחשוב שהאותיות מצטרפים ומתחברים זה עם זה, וזהו תענוג גדול, דמה אם בגשמייות הוא תענוג, מכל שכן ברוחנייות, וזהו עולם היצירה, ואחר כך יבא לאותיות המחשבה ולא ישמע מה שהוא מדבר, וזהו בא לעולם הבריאה, ואחד כך הוא בא למדת אין שנתבטל אצלו כל כחותיו הגשמיים, וזהו עולם האצילות מדת חכמה: (כש"ט ח"ב די"ז ע"ב, וק"א ד"ז ע"ד סוד"ה אורייתא, ועיין לקמן פ' שמיני אות ו').
A person must pray with complete concentration, passing from one letter to the next, until he forgets his physicality. He should imagine that the letters are uniting together, which is a great pleasure. For if this is a physical pleasure,8I.e., sexual union. it is certainly an even greater spiritual one. This is the world of Yetzirah. Afterward, he should progress to the letters of thought. He no longer hears what he is saying, and has come to the world of Beriyah. Finally, he comes to the level of Nothing,9Ayin. in which his entire physicality is annulled. This is the world of Atzilut, the level of Wisdom (Chochmah). Kesser Shem Tov, part 2, p. 17b
