Selichot Nusach Lita Linear · Sixth Day, Chapter 4

‹›
  1. 1

חתום בנימין.

  2. 2

Our God and God of our fathers!

  3. 3

    Where is Your jealousy

  4. 4

and where are Your mighty deeds,

  5. 5

with which You worked awesome wonders

  6. 6

    for the descendants [of those]

  7. 7

with whom You made a covenant?2This refers to the Patriarchs.

  8. 8

We are driven away and cast out

  9. 9

from our inheritance;3The land of Israel.

  10. 10

    Adonoy, [our] God!

  11. 11

We are ruled by masters besides You.

  12. 12

The anxiety of Your impoverished ones

  13. 13

    גָּדְלָה עַד־לִמְאֹד.

    is exceedingly great;

  14. 14

they bear the yoke of Your fear

  15. 15

with their heart and soul and possessions.

  16. 16

They are bowed down and humbled,

  17. 17

    exceedingly.

  18. 18

Let Your compassion come swiftly toward us

  19. 19

for we have been brought very low.

  20. 20

The sparkle in our faces has changed

  21. 21

because of those who insult us each day,

  22. 22

they gnash their teeth and say:

  23. 23

    “Behold this is the day.”

  24. 24

Reveal the design of Your dominion,

  25. 25

    O fearful God,

  26. 26

for we are slain for Your sake

  27. 27

    all the day long.

  28. 28

    We yearn for the time

  29. 29

    of redemption and comfort,

  30. 30

[meanwhile] we are covered with shame

  31. 31

    and wrapped with humiliation,

  32. 32

    oppressed and enslaved

  33. 33

    תַּחַת יַד כָּל־אֻמָּה.

    under the rule of every nation;

  34. 34

and not one of us knows for how long.

  35. 35

    King of kings!

  36. 36

    remember Your mercy of old,

  37. 37

save those who guard Your unity

  38. 38

    from the smoking fire-brands.

  39. 39

Cleanse the stains of their sin

  40. 40

    הַמְתֻלָּע כַּשָּׁנִים.

    which are red as scarlet;

  41. 41

remember not the sins of our ancestors.

  42. 42

Because of Mount Zion which lies desolate,

  43. 43

my face is hidden [with shame]

  44. 44

    and my heart is appalled.

  45. 45

The enemy who laid it waste

  46. 46

    condemn

  47. 47

and let Your radiant countenance shine

  48. 48

    upon Your desolate Sanctuary.

  49. 49

[Israel] is the possession You acquired of old

  50. 50

for the sake of Your glory,

  51. 51

have compassion and do not destroy her,

  52. 52

    וְהִיא תְהִלָּתֶךָ.

    for she is the cause of Your praise;

  53. 53

for thus have we been promised

  54. 54

by [Moses] the faithful one of Your House,

  55. 55

    “For a merciful Almighty

  56. 56

    יְהֹוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ,

    is Adonoy, your God;

  57. 57

    He will not weaken you

  58. 58

and He will not destroy you.”

  59. 59

Remember the likeness of the perfect one4Jacob.

  60. 60

which is etched on Your throne;5According to tradition, Jacob’s likeness is etched on the Heavenly Throne.

  61. 61

    Illustrious One!

  62. 62

From the stream of Your delights

  63. 63

    תַשְׁקֶה.

    give his children to drink;

  64. 64

    bestow upon them deliverance,

  65. 65

    acquit them from iniquity,

  66. 66

for You are He Who forgives iniquity,

  67. 67

    and remits transgression and acquits.

  68. 68

    Almighty! King!

  69. 69

Who sits on the throne of mercy,

  70. 70

    governs with kindness

  71. 71

forgives the iniquities of His people.

  72. 72

He removes their sins one by one,

  73. 73

    increasing forgiveness to sinners,

  74. 74

    and pardon to transgressors.

  75. 75

    Acting righteously

  76. 76

    עִם כָּל בָּשָׂר וָרֽוּחַ.

    with all who are of flesh and spirit;

  77. 77

    not according to their wickedness

  78. 78

    does He repay them.

  79. 79

    Almighty!

  80. 80

    You instructed us to recite

  81. 81

    שְׁלשׁ עֶשְׂרֵה.

    the thirteen Divine attributes;

  82. 82

    remember unto us this day

  83. 83

the covenant of thirteen Divine attributes,

  84. 84

    as You made them known

  85. 85

to the humble Moses of old,

  86. 86

    as it is written,

  87. 87

“And Adonoy descended in the cloud,

  88. 88

    and stood with him there,

  89. 89

    and proclaimed the Name, Adonoy.

  90. 90

    Congregation and Chazzan:

  91. 91

    וַיַּֽעֲבֹר יְהֹוָה עַל פָּנָיו

    And Adonoy passed before him [Moses];

  92. 92

    and proclaimed:

  93. 93

    Adonoy, Adonoy,

  94. 94

    Almighty, Merciful, Gracious,

  95. 95

    Slow to Anger,

  96. 96

and Abundant in Kindness, and Truth.

  97. 97

    Keeper of kindness

  98. 98

    for thousands of generations,

  99. 99

    Endurer of iniquity, and transgression,

  100. 100

    וְחַטָּאָה

    and sin;

  101. 101

and Acquitter of those who repent.”

  102. 102

“And pardon our iniquity and our sin,

  103. 103

and take us for Your inheritance.”

  104. 104

Pardon us our Father, for we have sinned,

  105. 105

forgive us our King, for we have transgressed.

  106. 106

    “For You, my Master,

  107. 107

    are good and forgiving,

  108. 108

    and abounding in kindness

  109. 109

to all who call upon You.”
